Rotary Global History Day –Cairo 03 October - Rotary Global History Fellowship
City: Cairo
Venue: Al Azhar Park
The different initiatives and Rotary projects reflect clearly what RIP John Kenny emphasizes in his July 2009 message that Rotary was founded on a clear idea that if people of good character, intelligence, and morals joined together, they could achieve a great deal more than they could alone. On 23 February 2005, Rotary celebrated its Centennial. For over one hundred years, business and professional people, around the world, have gathered weekly for fellowship, service, and the “Rotary Ideal”. What do we know about those 100 years?
Nearly one million internet visitors each year are finding out “how it started,” on nearly 4,000 pages of The “HURotary Global History FellowshipUH” websites. Is this history important? Rotary International past President Frank Devlyn on 20 June 2001, wrote to the Rotary Global History Fellowship staff, stating, "Your web site is an instrumental tool for those forward thinking people who wish to learn from our history, in order to guide our future."
Today a 40-member board manages RGHF, representing all 34 zones of Rotary International. Since its beginning, 11 October 2000, RGHF has succeeded in continuing to preserve the history of Rotary from presidents to districts, conventions to fellowships, the books of Paul Harris to essays by Rotarians. RGHF belongs to members that include our RIP John Kenny. As an effort to serve others, RGHF mission is to accumulate and preserve the complete history, values and philosophy of the Rotary movement, as well as encourages others to do the same at every level of the Rotary movement, and publishes those histories, values and philosophies on the internet, as well as other forms of media as expedient.
District 2450 under the leadership of DG Nijad Al-Atassi will be hosting the Rotary Global History Fellowship (RGHF) Zone 20B with Rotary Global History Day on the 3rd of October in Cairo, Egypt.
District 2450 is looking forward to a successful event and to welcoming as many Rotarians as possible as well as new RGHF members in Cairo on Saturday 3rd of October 2009 at Al Azhar Park.
RIP John Kenny emphasizes the fact that it is our daily emotions and daily decisions that determine the course of Rotary for us all and It is keeping the Global History of Rotary alive that will ensure that Rotary is in our hands.
All Rotarians are welcome to enjoy a weekend in the Heart of the History of Civilization and celebrate the Rotary Global History Day. In Addition to enjoying the company of Other Rotarians.
