The Rotary Foundation Seminar -District 2450 on November 14th

Dear fellow Rotarians of RI District 2450,

In 1988, over 350,000 children were being paralyzed by polio every year… A highly infectious disease, polio still strikes children mainly under the age of five in countries located in Asia and Africa. But, with Rotarians' help worldwide, we now have less than 900 cases in 4 endemic and less than 300 in 12 non-endemic countries. We still have not finished our job and we will not stop until we eradicate this terrible disease from the face of earth.

Almost every adult member of our society has known at least one person who has suffered or died as a result of Polio. Fortunately, in the last 20 years and due to the effective children vaccination campaigns (of which the Rotary International and Rotarians in Egypt and around the world have contributed over 600 million $ for supplying the vaccines and helping in the campaigns) Egypt became free from that dreadful disease but until the world is completely free we can not rest secure for the future of our children many individual.

It is the goal of Rotary International to support the continuation of such innovative practices by keeping the fight against Polio in the spotlight of public discussion and by raising funds to contribute to the supply of the vaccine.

Polio eradication will only succeed if the necessary funds are made available. For as little as 0.60 dollars worth of vaccine, a child can be protected against this crippling disease for life. With a 1,000 dollars contribution, you will save 1,700 children for life, have them to be individuals contributing to their society and help eradicate the future medical

This year, Rotary International District 2450 is organizing a fundraising Gala Dinner at Conrad hotel on Friday November 13Th, 2009. We are looking for individuals to join our efforts in the fight against this disease. We hope you might be one of those individuals.
